Local authorities set up field hospitals for train crash injured

Twenty-one people have now been confirmed dead and dozens injured after two high-speed trains derailed near Adamuz in Córdoba, where a field hospital has been set up and residents are bringing blankets and water to support those affected.

The accident occurred Sunday evening when an Iryo service from Málaga to Madrid derailed and crossed onto a parallel track, causing a Renfe train bound for Huelva to derail as well.

Emergency services, coordinated by Protección Civil and regional health teams, have established a hospital de campaña (field hospital) in Adamuz to treat the injured, while families are being assisted in municipal facilities and neighbors offer shelter and supplies.

Local authorities have mobilised ambulances, intensive care units and logistical support, and buses are being organised to help transport those needing further care.

Adif has suspended all high-speed rail services between Madrid and Andalucía through Monday as investigations continue, and blood donation centres are redistributing supplies to hospitals in Córdoba and Jaén.
