Spain experiences one of the hottest June’s on record

Forecasters say the country has experienced some of the hottest June temperatures ever recorded following the current heatwave.

Temperatures have exceeded forty degrees in several regions, with exceptionally high overnight temperatures also reported.

Meteorological agencies say the extreme conditions have been driven by a mass of very hot air from North Africa combined with strong summer sunshine.

Health authorities are continuing to advise people to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day and take extra care of vulnerable groups as the heatwave continues.
