Spain confirms first human case of hantavirus
The Ministry of Health has confirmed Spain’s first human case of hantavirus.
The patient, a man from Castilla y León, is receiving treatment in hospital and remains in a stable condition.
Health officials say the infection was likely caused by contact with rodents, and stress that hantavirus does not spread between people.
Regional authorities have activated surveillance protocols, though the ministry says the overall risk to the public remains very low.
