Two Guardia Civil officers killed in anti‑narcotics operation

Two Guardia Civil officers have died during an anti‑narcotics operation in southern Spain.

The Interior Ministry says their patrol vessel was struck at high speed by a boat used by drug traffickers during an interception attempt.

Despite the actions of emergency teams, they were unable to save them.

The government has expressed its condolences and says operations against organised crime in the Strait of Gibraltar region will continue with maximum determination.

Another officer who was injured in the chase has been released from hospital following treatment to non-life-threatening injuiries.
