Woman Serving Permanent Revisable Prison Sentence Arrested After Failing to Return From Mallorca Prison Leave

A woman sentenced to permanent revisable prison for throwing her newborn baby into a rubbish container in Mallorca has been arrested again after failing to return from a permitted prison outing.

She was detained on Wednesday morning in Palma after being located by the Policía Nacional.

The woman had been granted a temporary release but did not come back at the scheduled time, prompting an immediate search. She was convicted in 2023 for killing her baby shortly after giving birth and leaving the body in a container in the Son Espanyolet neighbourhood.

Prison authorities will now review her regime and the conditions under which she can receive future permits.
