Podemos Members Back Joining ‘Por Andalucía’ Coalition for 17 May Elections

The grassroots membership of Podemos in Andalucía has overwhelmingly backed joining the Por Andalucía coalition for the 17 May regional elections.

In a 24‑hour internal vote, 81.4% supported negotiating a unified left‑wing candidacy alongside Izquierda Unida and Sumar.

Nearly 6,000 members took part, with the party leadership saying the result gives them a clear mandate to pursue a broad, unitary list.

The coalition would be led by Antonio Maíllo, and negotiations now turn to finalising provincial lists before the registration deadline.

Podemos says the goal is to avoid splitting the left‑wing vote and to challenge the PP government in the region.
