One Dead and Several Injured After Explosion and Fire in Almería Café

One person has died and several others have been injured after two explosions triggered a fire in a café in Almería.

The blasts occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a café on Calle Alfarerías, causing part of the façade to collapse and sparking a rapid emergency response.

Fire crews, Policía Nacional Tedax specialists, Policía Local and 061 medical teams cordoned off the area while attending to the victims.

Early indications suggest the deflagration may have been caused by a gas cylinder, though the investigation remains open.

Two of the injured were taken to Torrecárdenas Hospital — one in serious condition with burns and another with smoke inhalation — while a third was treated at a nearby health centre.
