Spain receives 205 evacuated military personnel returning from Iraq

Spain has welcomed home 205 military personnel evacuated from Iraq following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

The troops arrived at Torrejón Air Base aboard an Air Force A330 and were received by Defence Minister Margarita Robles and the Chief of Defence Staff.

Most belong to the Legion’s “Gran Capitán” regiment in Melilla, with others from additional Army units.

The withdrawal was coordinated with NATO partners, while special operations forces are being relocated separately to Alicante.
