Foreign resident population in Spain rises to 7.5 million
Spain’s foreign resident population reached 7.5 million at the end of 2025, according to new figures from the Permanent Immigration Observatory.
The total represents a 4.5% annual increase, with more than half holding EU or EFTA registration certificates and the rest residing under Spain’s general immigration regime.
Growth among non‑EU nationals was led by Venezuelan citizens, while the number of British residents under the Withdrawal Agreement remains stable after several years of post‑Brexit adjustment.
The ministry also highlights a sharp rise in foreign students and non‑EU family members of Spanish nationals.
