Spain Moves from Pre-Emergency to Permanent Alert as Wildfire Crisis Subsides

The government has downgraded the wildfire alert level from a pre-emergency phase to a state of permanent alert following what has been confirmed as the most devastating wildfire season in recent history.

Virginia Barcones, director of Civil Protection, confirmed that conditions have improved sufficiently to lower the threat level.

Over three hundred thousand hectares were damaged over the last few weeks, with a number of areas being declared an emergency zone.
