Ryanair has said it is set to reduce flights to regional airports in Spain due to a fee increase by airport operator Aena.
Chief executive Eddie Wilson announced a cut of about a million passenger seats this winter, following a previous reduction of eight hundred thousand seats during summer.
As the largest airline operating in Spain in terms of passenger numbers, Ryanair’s decision is likely to have a significant impact on regional travel.
Aena has yet to respond to requests for comment regarding these developments.
The official announcement will be made next Wednesday.
