The government has said it plans to move migrants from overcrowded refugee facilities in the Canary Islands to Madrid. The Ministry of Defence will provide accommodation in the Carabanchel district and Alcalá de Henares, with the camps expected to be ready in two weeks. Over thirteen thousand people have arrived in the Canary Islands this month, prompting requests for collaboration and coordinated transfers of migrants between autonomous communities.

Three people have been found after being reported as missing off the northern coast of Lanzarote, prompting a search and rescue operation for the crew of the ‘Mai Tai’ sailboat. The remains of the boat and one person were found in the water, while a survivor with moderate hypothermia was treated at the island’s airport. Another survivor suffering from hypothermia and cuts was discovered on dry land.
