UK Urges British Nationals to Follow Local Advice as Almería Wildfire Response Continues
The UK Government has urged British nationals in the Almería area to follow the instructions of the Spanish authorities as emergency services continue to respond to the devastating wildfire near Los Gallardos.
A spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it is in contact with the Spanish authorities and is monitoring the situation closely. The department has advised British residents and visitors to remain alert, follow guidance issued by local emergency services and seek assistance through official channels if required.
The appeal comes as emergency crews continue search, rescue and firefighting operations following one of the deadliest wildfires in Spain in recent years. Regional authorities have confirmed fatalities and injuries, while a number of people remain unaccounted for. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Foreign Office said anyone requiring consular assistance should contact its emergency services or follow updates issued through official government travel advice. British nationals in the affected area are being advised not to travel into restricted zones and to comply with any evacuation or shelter-in-place instructions issued by the emergency services.
