Spain to extend relocation of unaccompanied migrant minors

The government will extend the emergency mechanism that allows the redistribution of unaccompanied migrant minors from Melilla, Ceuta and the Canary Islands to other autonomous communities.

The Ministry of Inclusion says the measure is necessary because pressure on reception centres in the three territories remains high.

The extension will be formalised in the coming weeks, with regional governments expected to coordinate new placements.
