This summer, Spain recorded 228 fatalities on the roads, a decrease of 15 deaths compared to last year.
Despite a record one hundred million journeys, the Interior Ministry warned that road safety must remain a priority, especially as nearly 50% of victims tested positive for substances.
Additionally, alarming figures show that 27% of those who died in cars were not wearing seat belts.
The summer also saw varying patterns in traffic volumes, with August reporting the highest number of movements at fifty-two million, an increase of 2.8% over the previous year.
