Liverpool Football Club player Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva of Penafiel, have died in a road accident in Cernadilla, Zamora.
The accident took place early on Thursday morning, confirmed by the Castilla y León Emergency Services at approximately 12:35am.
28-year-old Diogo Jota had been with Liverpool FC since the 2020 season, after transferring from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Jota had recently married in June and was a father to three children.
André Silva, aged 26, also played professionally, competing in Portugal’s second division.
The accident was reported after witnesses called emergency services, alerting them to a vehicle ablaze on the A-52 highway.
