Protests Erupt in Madrid Demanding Early Elections Amid Corruption Allegations

Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in Madrid yesterday to protest against Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and demand early elections.

Organised by the opposition Partido Popular under the slogan mafia or democracy, the protest saw between forty five thousand and fifty thousand attendees, according to official estimates.

Organisers claimed the crowd exceeded one hundred thousand.

The growing number of corruption allegations surrounding the current government have intensified pressure on Sanchez, as calls for accountability rise.
