Fire Brought Under Control in Alcalá de Guadaíra

A fire in a chemical warehouse in Alcalá de Guadaíra near to Seville is under control, but not yet extinguished.

Two people were injured: a worker with burns and a firefighter due to fatigue.

Following the blast – which occurred around lunchtime yesterday afternoon – the City Council asked 80,000 residents to remain indoors due to the risk of higher levels of chemicals in the air.

A plume of smoke was visible from over 80km away from the blast, with an investigation launched to determine the cause of the fire.
